The Department of Food Science and Technology, University of Queensland, Australia, has extensive laboratory and pilot plant facilities covering all the major operations used in food processing, including drying, canning, freezing, dairy (including UHT), and extrusion. The extrusion facility is based around a Wenger X-20 single screw extruder. Extrusion projects completed using the facility have included work related to pet, stock, and aquaculture feeds, as well as expanded snacks and breakfast cereals.
