Briefly, here's
what happens in a typical QUIKCHANGE from
Product A to Product B - all under complete
computer control:
- After the Surge Bin empties remaining raw
ingredients of Recipe A into the Live Bin, it is shut down until ready for recharging with
Recipe B.
- Recipe A then moves through the Extruder Die and
into the Cascade Dryer.
- The Live Bin and Preconditioner are emptied of
Recipe A as much as possible.
- Recipe B follows after shutdown/recharging
sequence.
- Product AB is created via mixture of raw
ingredients of Recipe A and B exiting in the Extruder Die.
- After inspection or a control sensor determines
the extrudate has progressed from Product AB to 100% Product B, the APM tracks Product AB
separately from Product A through the dryer dump cycle.
- At the exit of the dryer, Product AB is sent
to the rework system and Product A moves on to downstream processing.
- Product A and B are conveyed separately from the
Cooler to packing bins.
